Ma. Jazmin B. Banal

SPECIAL COUNSEL

ATTY.  JAZMIN B. BANAL joined the Firm as Special Counsel on 16 February 2023.

She has practiced in the areas of litigation and dispute resolution involving commercial, intra-corporate, administrative, tax, criminal and family disputes as well as corporate rehabilitation and insolvency. She has handled cases in the trial courts, Sandiganbayan, Court of Tax Appeals, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court and has appeared in the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Energy Regulatory Commission. She has participated in domestic and international arbitration proceedings. Jazmin has also practiced in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and debt and equity finance, conducting due diligence, rendering advice to local and foreign clients, and preparing transactional documents.

Prior to joining the Firm, Jazmin was a Partner in Romulo Mabanta Buenaventura Sayoc & de los Angeles, where she started as an Associate in 2000. As part of her work, she also acted as Assistant Corporate Secretary for Rustan Coffee, rendered legal assistance to the Standard Chartered Bank, and provided legal assistance services for the staff of the Asian Development Bank. She started her legal career in De Borja Medialdea Bello Guevarra Serapio & Gerodias from 1999 to 2000.

Aside from private practice, Jazmin was Senior Advisor in the Office of the Vice President from 2016 to 2022, Undersecretary for Legal Affairs in the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Food Security and Agricultural Modernization from 2014 to 2016, and Chief Political Affairs Officer in the Office of the District Representative for the Third District of Quezon City from 2010 to 2011. She also worked in Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panligal in 2003.

Jazmin graduated from the University of the Philippines with an undergraduate degree in Business Economics in 1994 and a Bachelor of Laws degree (equivalent to Juris Doctor) in 1998. She was admitted to the Philippine bar in 1999. She is a member of the Quezon City Chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and served as its director from 2007 to 2009.
